The observance of the 36th World Food Day and the 26th National "Love Food, Save Food' Publicity Week was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province on Oct.16, 2016.
Mr. Sun Zhonghua, Chief Agronomist of the Ministry of Agriculture, addressed the opening ceremony. In his speech, Mr. Sun pointed out that the Chinese government highly values the cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). China has adopted conservation farming and many other measures to strengthen the efforts of agricultural sector in tackling climate change, while its agriculture and grain production has made progress in overall stability.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, China will be committed to promoting sustainable agricultural development under the concept of "innovation, coordination, green development, opening and sharing', intensifying the efforts of agricultural modernization, accelerating the transformation of development mode, and improving the quality and efficiency of agricultural supply system. China will also, through South-South cooperation, help other developing countries to enhance their capability for sustainable agricultural development and coping with climate change.
